DESTINATIONS - TAMARINDO, COSTA RICA
Playa Tamarindo is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. It is situated adjacent to “Las Baulas Marine National Park,” which is one of the most important nesting places on the planet for the giant Leatherback turtles. These turtles are the biggest kind of sea turtle in the world.
In recent years the village has become one of the most popular seaside destinations of the country and has experienced growth and development. Therefore, the village offers all the amenities you need to enjoy unforgettable holidays such as fine accommodations, a domestic airport, a variety of boutiques, restaurants and bars, as well as bakeries, supermarkets, car rentals, banks, excellent doctors and pharmacies, two Spanish schools, real estate offices, beauty salons, gym, etc.
Due to the fact that Tamarindo Bay has some of the most tranquil currents of the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and is therefore considered one of the safest beaches, it is ideal for swimming, kayaking, surfing, boogie-boarding, snorkeling and diving, among other watersports. Sailboat and catamaran trips are also available. A daily offering is the special Sunset Trip on which one can often enjoy spectacular and famous sunsets of this bay. The surrounding areas of the village are great for bicycling and horseback riding. Golfers can benefit from two beautiful 18-hole golf courses only 20 minutes away from Tamarindo.
Several tours are offered to protected areas such as boat trips into the estuary of the Tamarindo Wildlife Refuge, where nature lovers can enjoy this natural paradise. Trips to nearby national parks, like Palo Verde, Rincón de la Vieja, Barra Honda and Tenorio National Park, among others, are organized on a daily basis. Tamarindo is located 4 1/2 hours drive from San José or 1 hour from Liberia’s International Airport. 45- minute flights from San José are available daily as well.
Hotel Capitan Suizo is the perfect place to enjoy beach holidays. It is located directly on the beach in a developed area, outside of town and at the end of the bay. Despite the recent economic growth of this former little fishing village and its surroundings, Capitan Suizo still prioritizes the protection of native trees and green areas of the property with its lush tropical garden that houses a variety of wildlife and where nature and animals are integrated with love and respect. Thanks to a discreet elegance and a touch of Swiss quality that blends with an informal and joyful atmosphere, Capitan Suizo is the ideal oasis to rest, relax and get away from the busier tourism destinations.
Capitan Suizo also offers an open- air beachfront restaurant and bar. The chef Roland Brodscholl has been delighting guests since the opening of the hotel with his fusion of European and tropical cuisines.
