Three exceptional meals are prepared each day by Playa Nicuesa’s chefs. Emphasis is on local cuisine and fresh fish, tropical fruits and vegetables. The 165 acre preserve abounds with tropical fruit trees bearing mangos, pineapple, starfruit, oranges, lemons, papayas, water apples, bananas, and of course, coconuts. The freshly squeezed juices and salsas are limitless!
Food is an important and interesting part of the experience at Nicuesa . Almost all of the food at Playa Nicuesa is minutes fresh, from source to plate. The lodge believes in reducing food miles, and therefore grows a variety of organic fruits and vegetables on the preserve, and catch or purchase fish, and other food locally.
Nicuesa is lucky to have two local chefs trained in some of the regions best hotels and restaurants. Edixon and Juan Carlos (coco) help add local flavor and spice to a menu that emphasizes fresh local food and using ingredients from the gardens, sea and rainforest. The chefs help use their experience of growing up in the Osa Region to help our guests experience a unique blend of local flavors in a menu that uses recipes typical to Costa Rica and fusion dishes that uses local ingredients to feature some of the best dishes from all over Latin America.
