Hotel CapitÁn Suizo & Sustainability
Sustainability at Capitán Suizo
Because of its admiration and respect for the culture, traditions and heritage of this country – which has achieved the goal of having 25 percent of its land mass become national parks or protected areas – the hotel Capitán Suizo is committed to the Certification for Sustainable Tourism program (CST).
The hotel has also signed the Code of Conduct for the protection of children and adolescents from commercial sexual exploitation in Costa Rica. In accordance with the agreement to work with the Costa Rican Ministry of Tourism and avoid all forms of prostitution and illegal sexual exploitation, the hotel only allows registered guests to enter rooms. Additionally Capitán Suizo supports a nonprofit organization that helps the improvement of national parks, participates in a reforestation program, waste management, composting, environmental education in local schools and provides financial support to some local committees.
Capitán Suizo regularly promotes activities that introduce guests to the nuances of Costa Rican culture, such as evenings with marimba music, folkloric dances and craftmaking demonstrations by local artisans.
