Hotel FLORBLANCA: Tour & Activities
The area of Santa Teresa presents a wealth of activities, both within the resort and nearby. Whether you are here to indulge an existing passion such as surfing or experience something new, Florblanca’s concierge office is anxious to listen to your ideas, offer suggestions, and arrange whatever suits you. All of Florblanca’s guided tours support local tourism and natural protected areas. Our hope is that you’ll return from each tour not only with great memories of your adventure, but also with more knowledge of this part of Costa Rica.
Walk or run on the beach
Our beach path leads you in just a few steps to the wide white-sand beach where you can walk or jog for miles, while collecting shells, beach glass and smooth stones. Should you wish to get wet, natural pools form at low tide that serve as havens of calm water
Bike or beach cruise
Bicycling Florblanca, which provides complimentary bicycles as part of your room rate, also has several beach cruisers that you may take off the property for an adventurous ride on our infamous Costa Rican roads and along our beautiful beaches. We also offer a few bicycles built for two.

Surf the break
Costa Rica has long been known as one of the premier surf destinations in the world, and more recently the break at Santa Teresa has been discovered globally as the most exciting new place to surf. Within 100 yards of Florblanca's villa doors is a two-mile break with year round surf. Epic days are frequent and in certain seasons our swells and waves are unmatched on the Pacific Coast. Many other spots are within a few minutes drive and our staff, many of whom are skilled surfers, will direct or accompany you to the best spot of the day. They always know where the waves are. Florblanca provides lessons for beginners and assistance for all who want to learn. Bring your own board if you are an accomplished surfer, though we do have some starter boards for those who just want to give it a try.
Practice Yoga and Pilates
Yoga has been central to the culture and the daily routine of Florblanca since the opening, as evidenced by the seaside open-air yoga dojo, a centerpiece of the property. Santa Teresa in general, and this resort in particular, offers a lifestyle of activity for the mind and the body and its exceptional yoga and Pilates classes will allow you to stretch both body and soul. The instructors are internationally trained and offer free classes daily. The teachers also will schedule private sessions for groups, couples or individuals.
Sea Kayak in Wildlife Refuge
Seascape Kayak Tours offers paddling experiences to Florblanca’s guests. Imagine paddling in crystal clear water, snorkeling just off a white-sand beach, and catching a glimpse of sea turtles, laughing at playful monkeys and gliding right by huge pelicans. You can experience all this on a Seascape Kayak Tour at Curu Wildlife Refuge, a small wildlife preserve and national park on the southern tip of Nicoya peninsula. This location provides easy access to the park’s extensive system of hiking trails, the crystal clear waters of the Pacific, several beautiful beaches, a mangrove estuary, excellent snorkeling, the Tortuga Islands and incredible wildlife, including sea turtles, monkeys and Scarlet Macaws. This tour is not to be missed!
Ride horses in Manzanillo
Horseback riding begins where the main road ends, in the local fishing village of Manzanillo, 10 minutes from Florblanca. Enjoy exceptional horseback riding with local guides where you are an invited guest on a nearby private 9,000-acre working cattle ranch that borders the ocean. The ranch owners and workers are devoted to conserve this area of Costa Rica, and want to give you the local perspective. You are likely to see birds, monkeys and other wildlife as you ride along the high pastures overlooking stunning tropical landscape and dramatic ocean vistas. A sunset ride back along the beach is a must.
Fishing in Malpais
Fishing trips originate in the nearby town of Malpais, in English known as the "bad lands" due to the dramatic rocky beaches. Your captain is an experienced local fisherman and your catch could include tuna, mahi mahi, snapper, grouper, roosterfish, or other game fish. In certain seasons the famous Pacific sailfish are within reach. Off shore, your captain will point out Isla Cabo Blanco, which is the nesting point of frigate birds and a unique underwater volcano. Bring your fish back to the resort and our chef will prepare it for your dinner.
Snorkel in Cabo Blanco Preserve
Snorkeling tours will be planned at low tide so you can enjoy the tide pools of Playa Los Suecos, a secluded white-sand beach bordering Cabo Blanco Preserve. Florblanca provides snorkels, masks and fins at no charge, and you will be accompanied by a local naturalist. During your time in this postcard-picture perfect setting, you can enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by Nectar Restaurant.
Tour Cabo Blanco Natural Preserve
Hike in Cabo Blanco National Preserve
Jump on the ATVs and explore the dirt road to the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula where you arrive at Cabo Blanco National Preserve, the first protected area in Costa Rica. Cabo Blanco has a number of different trails for all levels of hikers. The trails are truly in the jungle, full of lush plants and flowers. You will see various types of birds, monkeys and iguanas – and possibly even an anteater. You may also choose to take a waterside tour of the preserve and a trip around the "Great Rock" island, which is the point of the peninsula. The island is the nesting home for frigate birds and sanctuary for pelicans and marine life. Look for mating sea turtles, giant manta rays and dolphins – even migrating whales have been seen in season. After your hike through the national preserve, you can stop with your guide at the Rainsong Wildlife Sanctuary, a private establishment that rescues and rehabilitates wild injured animals in hopes of eventually releasing them back into their natural habitat
Malpaís Zipline Canopy Tour
For the adventurous, a zipline flight above the jungle canopy is a short ride away. The Malpais canopy tour is only a 15-minute drive from Florblanca, and you may go by ATV or by taxi. The canopy tour is set on a 60-acre farm, untouched and unspoiled. You will fly above the canopy while enjoying stunning vistas of the Pacific and the border of Cabo Blanco.
