About
Villa Caletas is a luxury boutique hotel inspired by tropical colonial architecture, with a touch of neoclassical influence. Reflecting the eccentric, colorful style of French owner and interior designer, Dennis Roy, the property is chockablock with artifacts, from European art and oriental rugs to terracotta masks and a host of Latin American earthenware.
Located on a rainforest hilltop in the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, it is prized not only for its location near Jaco beach, but also for its outstanding facilities and first-class service. Views of lush tropical rainforests complement some of the most breathtaking sunsets you will ever see, while pairs of Scarlet Macaws fly overhead.
At the bottom of the mountain, Villa Caletas is fortunate to have its own private beach. Guests are welcome to soak up the sun, either in the secluded volcanic-sand cove or up the mountain, at one of the hotel’s magnificent infinity pools.
The stand-alone Zephyr Palace is located within the grounds of the hotel. Surrounded by rainforest and nestled on top of a hill, this spectacular mansion affords panoramic views of the Gulf of Nicoya.

Restaurant
The hotel has two restaurants. El Anfiteatro, a Greek-style amphitheater with spectacular Gulf views, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner outdoors on the terrace. The same landscape provides the backdrop for candlelight dinners at the elegant El Mirador Restaurant.
El Mirador Restaurant
The culinary and creative talents behind the scenes at El Mirador Restaurant are highly acclaimed. Savored in the restaurant or on the ocean-view terrace, the menu features a variety of seafood recipes that combine delicious flavor with artful presentation. Start with a Seafood Terrine, or Yellowfin Tuna Tartar topped with thinly-sliced mango and plantain chips. Mains range from Lobster and Shrimp Bisque to Red Snapper Roll. Vegetarian options include Fire-grilled Chimichurri Vegetable Rolls and Vegetarian Moussaka. Meat lovers will revel in the Duck served with Fig and Truffle Oil or mouthwatering Angus Ribeye Steak. Pies and cakes in a variety of local fruit sauces fill the dessert menu.
The Amphitheater is a local favorite for cocktail specials and its Martini Bar is a popular sunset destination. The restaurant features international cuisine with a local twist and has a reputation for service, consistency and quality. Filling main dishes such as Louisiana-style Mahi Mahi or Chilean Salmon sit alongside lighter soups, salads and burgers. An eclectic vegetarian menu offers dishes such as Aztec Soup, Risotto Primavera and Taboulé and Tofu. Delectable desserts include Almond Semifredo, Tropical Tiramisu and Passionfruit Sorbet.
